At the border, Joe Biden kneels in front of Donald Trump

Under Joe Biden, the US border has worsened from an improving position under Donald Trump to an out-of-control calamity.

Under the current administration, we've witnessed record-breaking numbers of apprehensions (which implies overall crossings are also record-breaking), while the White House has discouraged enforcement and concentrated on made-up scandals rather than defending the country.

Things are about to change, even if the administration stays purposefully stupid. Biden is now poised to kneel before Trump, reinstituting the hugely effective "Remain in Mexico" strategy that saw the border stabilized under the previous administration.

President Biden will start turning asylum seekers back to Mexico as soon as next week under a reinstated Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” program — but will offer them the option to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, Axios has learned.

However, there are a few caveats. For starters, this would not be possible without a court order, which the administration has vigorously opposed. Nonetheless, I believe this is a "win" for the White House. They can behave as though they don't wish to restore the policy while yet receiving the benefits. Expect a lot of playing both sides, with Biden stating that his hands are tied on the one hand while taking credit for improving the border situation on the other.

However, there is also the matter of Mexico. By fostering excellent connections, Trump was able to secure the original "Remain in Mexico" agreement. Biden's actions, as well as Kamala Harris' ludicrous blame-shifting, have largely demolished them. Mexico's leadership, contrary to popular belief, does not want their nation to become a crossroads for illegal immigrants from Central America. They regard Biden's policies as pushing migrants to go...because Biden's programs encourage migrants to travel.

So, at this point, the question is whether the Mexicans even want to help us. I have my doubts, and if they don't, it'll be the perfect opportunity for Biden to throw his hands up and tell the court, "welp, I tried."

Many Democrats perceive the program as a humanitarian matter, thus Biden might face significant opposition within his own party. The notion appears to be that it is unsafe for asylum seekers to remain in Mexico until their claims are determined to be valid. Is it, however, safer to lock them up in cages and then release them into high-crime regions of the US with nothing but the clothing on their backs and a meal ticket? Again, I find the left's complaints to be absolutely unpersuasive.

The asylum system is, in fact, dysfunctional, but not in the sense liberals say. It's faulty because it encourages economic migrants to falsely declare they're in danger in order to get access into the United States' interior. This feeds the cycle since more and more individuals perceive it as a way to profit from it.

However, the present government is content with the status quo. They don't seem to mind that it benefits drug cartels and leads to murders, sex trafficking, and other heinous crimes. For Biden and his friends, everything is about politics. Be damned if actual people's lives are impacted.
