Twenty One Pilots rocker Tyler Joseph has issued an apology after making a joke that several fans found to be “tone-deaf” and “insensitive.”
Joseph, 31, posted a photo wearing platform shoes to twitter on Tuesday with the caption, “You guys keep asking me to use my platforms. Feels good to dust these bad boys off.”
But fans quickly slammed the “Stressed Out” singer for being insensitive and urged him to be more vocal about social issues.
“Human rights aren’t a joke? But OK,” one fan responded, with another writing, “No that’s actually not what we mean. We would like you to speak up on the injustice in this country.”
A third added, “You’ve been known to not like to talk about ‘politics’ but are human rights really that political? No, they are not.”

Joseph replied to critics with a flurry of tweets on mental health and suicide prevention, but his followers slammed him again for refusing to comment on Black Lives Matter.
He then clarified his position, writing, “my tweet wasn’t suppose to be about human rights. so in case you are wondering where i stand: Black Lives Matter. i just wanted to take a moment to raise awareness about something else that has meant a lot to me for a long time. but now I see there is no room for that right now.”
He added, “im truly sorry if it hurt anyone,” and posted a link to a donation page for Black Lives Matter.
