A former Tekashi 6ix9ine associate who was let out of a lockup while awaiting sentencing because of the coronavirus outbreak was caught on video partying with several other people soon after his release, according to court documents.
The video of Kintea McKenzie, aka “Kooda B,” was turned over to Judge Paul Engelmayer, who earlier this week ordered McKenzie cut loose from the Metropolitan Correctional Center because of his increased risk of contracting coronavirus in the lockup.
“The video may reflect one or more violation(s) of the defendant’s terms of temporary release, with which the Court has admonished Mr. McKenzie he must scrupulously comply or otherwise face remand,” Engelmayer wrote in an order Thursday.
“The conduct depicted on the video suggests a complete lack of concern by Mr. McKenzie for avoidance of contagion of himself and others,” Engelmayer added, noting it appears at odds with his lawyer’s argument that he be released to home confinement because of the coronavirus risk at the MCC.
Engelmayer ordered prosecutors and McKenzie’s lawyer to file letters in response to the video by Friday at 5 p.m. It’s unclear if he’ll be remanded into custody.
Last June, McKenize pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, which has a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
He allegedly organized an attempted shooting of rapper Chief Keef at a Times Square hotel in 2018.
