Whistleblowers: Because of the 2020 election, FBI leaders told agents not to use Hunter Biden's laptop

FBI officials told agents for months not to look into famous first son Hunter Biden's laptop because the FBI 'was not going to change the outcome of the election again,' according to claims from a whistleblower that Sen. Ron Johnson made public on Wednesday (R-Wis.)

In a letter to Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz, Johnson said, "These new allegations provide even more evidence of FBI corruption and renew calls for you to take immediate steps to investigate the FBI's actions about the laptop."

After the laptop was found in a Wilmington, Delaware repair shop in December 2019, "knowledgeable people" told the senator's office that "local FBI leadership" had slowed down the investigation into it.

Johnson said that FBI management told employees, "You will not look at that Hunter Biden laptop," and promised that the bureau would not change the outcome of the 2020 election. This was a reference to how the FBI reopened the investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server days before the 2016 election.

"Further, these "whistleblowers" say that the FBI didn't start looking at Hunter Biden's laptop until after the 2020 presidential election," the Republican said.

Johnson said that the new claims from the whistleblower should be enough to get the inspector general to act quickly.

The whistleblower claimed FBI officials vowed that the bureau was “not going to change the outcome of the election again.”

“While I understand your hesitation to investigate a matter that may be related to an
ongoing investigation, it is clear to me based on numerous credible whistleblower disclosures that the FBI cannot be trusted with the handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop,” Johnson wrote.

He also said that Horowitz should start by "getting the history of the FBI's investigations on Hunter Biden's laptop. This information should be available on Sentinel, the FBI's case management system."

Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa said that Johnson's letter came after "highly credible whistleblowers" accused the FBI and Justice Department last month of hiding dirt on President Biden's son by wrongly calling the information "disinformation."

In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland, Grassley made the explosive claims. He is the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Wray had to say earlier this month that the claims of FBI bias in the Hunter Biden investigation were "deeply troubling" after being questioned by Republican senators.
