McDonald's said of the new Big Mac, "We're always looking for ways to give our fans more ways to enjoy the classic menu items they know and love." Fox 6 reported that this is what McDonald's said.

The Chicken Big Mac is part of a fast food fight called the "Chicken Sandwich Wars," which have gotten worse since Popeyes's popular chicken sandwich came out in 2019. McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's have all come out with new sandwiches that are meant to compete with Popeyes and Chick-fil-A.
"Chicken is still a major opportunity for us... We already have some great global assets in our McNuggets and McChicken, but we also have some assets in McCrispy and McSpicy that we think we could do more with on a global scale. So that will be a priority," McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski said in a Q2 earnings call.
Later this month, the new sandwich will be available for a limited time at a few Miami locations.
