On Monday, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) pledged to begin a thorough inquiry into the raid on former President Donald Trump's residence by the FBI and Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Trump announced in a statement that the FBI had raided Trump’s Florida home, Mar-A-Lago.
McCarthy responded to the raid by stating that Republicans would look into all the circumstances surrounding the FBI's raid on the former president.
McCarthy said:
I’ve seen enough.
The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization.
When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned.

In fact, Republicans will have the power to issue subpoenas into the raid against the former president if they win back the House in the Congressional midterm elections of 2022. The events and decision-making process that resulted in the search warrant against Trump can be the focus of the House Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight and Reform Committee.
The House Judiciary Republicans wrote, “This is what happens in third world countries. Not the United States. Doesn’t the FBI have better things to do than harass the former PRESIDENT?”

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel wrote, “Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Countless times we have examples of Democrats flaunting the law and abusing power with no recourse, including Hunter Biden. Democrats continually weaponize the bureaucracy against Republicans. This raid is outrageous.”

“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar- A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said in his statement announcing the FBI raid. “Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.”
