Eric Trump told his father about the FBI raid and said that agents 'ransacked' the office of the ex-president

Eric Trump said that during a raid of his father's Mar-a-Lago estate, FBI agents 'ransacked' his father's office and broke into a safe.

In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News on Monday night, the younger Trump said that he was the one who told his father about the FBI's unannounced search of the Florida property earlier that day.

"This morning, I was the one who got the call. "I called my dad to tell him what happened," Eric Trump said about the raid.

The former first son told Hannity that the raid was done by FBI agents to look for any secret documents that Donald Trump might have at Mar-a-Lago.

He said that the search was based on politics, and he made it sound like his father was a victim of the investigation.

Eric Trump was upset that more than 30 FBI agents showed up at Mar-a-Lago with no warning, went through the gates, and started going through an office and a closet. "They broke into a safe, you know. He had nothing in the safe either."

He said that Democrats have made his father a target because they are afraid he will run again in 2024.

"They do it for one reason: they don't want Donald Trump to run for president again in 2024 and win," he said. "That's what this is all about today."

The Justice Department is looking into how Donald Trump handled classified documents, and Monday's raid is part of that investigation.

The National Archives and Records Administration told the federal agency earlier this year that it had found classified information in 15 boxes at Mar-a-Lago.

Monday, the agents went to the Florida property to look for more papers.

Eric Trump said that his father had been helping the investigation and the National Archives. He didn't think there was a need for a surprise raid.

“You want to search for anything, if you think anything — like, you know, come right ahead,” he said on Hannity. “I mean, it was — it was an open-door policy and all of a sudden, 30 agents descend upon Mar-a-Lago?”

Donald Trump may have broken a federal law that says you can't take classified documents to unauthorized places or move them there.

However, Eric Trump said the raid was merely “more political persecution of Donald J. Trump”

“They want to attack a guy who they view as his greatest threat, is Biden’s greatest threat,” he continued. “And that’s exactly what Donald J. Trump is. Because you know what? He had an incredibly strong country.”
