A new injury will delay Luis Severino’s return to the Yankees for at least a month.
Aaron Boone told reporters Tuesday that Severino suffered a “low grade 2 groin strain” during his rehab start on Saturday.
Severino has been working his way back from Tommy John surgery. The Yankees were hopeful the 27-year-old right-hander could return by the end of the month, but it now appears he won’t be ready until at least the end of July.
The Yankees are also without right-hander Corey Kluber, who’s on the injured list with a shoulder strain.
