NFL Draft bust Isaiah Wilson was arrested at gunpoint and charged with seven driving and drug-possession charges after a high-speed chase when he was still a member of the Titans in January.
Wilson was clocked driving 123 miles per hour by a police radar gun and his car reached as fast 140 miles per hour during the ensuing chase, according to a report in The Tennessean citing police records. The incident reportedly took place in Georgia, where Wilson went to college and became a 2020 first-round draft pick after attending Poly Prep in Brooklyn.
Wilson, 22, and an unidentified woman were charged with felony fleeing from police, possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance, marijuana possession, drug-related paraphernalia, reckless driving, reckless conduct and speeding in a construction zone, per the report.
Police ended the pursuit because of the dangerous speeds and later found Wilson’s 2006 Dodge Charger wrecked 100 yards off the road, according to the report.
It is the second known arrest for Wilson in the last seven months, as he also was charged with DUI in September. He was suspended in December for violation of team rules and placed on the reserve list to attend to what general manager Jon Robinson described as “personal issues.” The Titans voided most of the $11 million in guaranteed money on his contract under a personal conduct clause.
The 6-foot-6, 350-pound offensive tackle played just four snaps for the Titans as a rookie and they traded him to the Dolphins two months after the Jan. 7 arrest. Wilson’s value had plummeted to the point where the Titans only were able to manage a swap of seventh-round draft picks – and even that didn’t work out for the Dolphins, who cut Wilson three days after acquiring him.
Wilson reportedly showed up late for his physical and team meetings, failed to attend workouts and refused help offered from the Dolphins.
