LeBron James is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain, but nothing is worse to the Lakers star than not being there for his teammates.

“Nothing angers and saddens me more than not being available to and for my teammates! I’m hurt inside and out right now,” James wrote on Twitter with a face-palm emoji. “The road back from recovery begins now. Back soon like I never left. #ThekidfromAKRON.”

The Lakers are already without Anthony Davis, who is still nursing a calf strain and Achilles tendinosis, but will now lose the 36-year-old James after his ankle was rolled over by Atlanta’s Solomon Hill in the second quarter of the team’s 99-94 loss to the Hawks on Saturday.

The 17-time All-Star briefly stayed in the game after falling to the court while clutching his ankle and screaming in pain. But then he called a timeout and knocked over a chair before limping to the locker room. James was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

“I haven’t necessarily seen him scream and squall like that, probably ever, not even with that groin,” said Kyle Kuzma, who was with the Lakers when James missed a stretch of games with a groin injury two seasons ago. “It had to hurt a little bit, for sure.”
