Love on top! Lana Condor and Noah Centineo won over viewers with their chemistry in Netflix’s 2018 hit film To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Fans quickly discovered that their adorable relationship extends off-camera too.

The actors returned for the 2020 sequel, To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, and the third film in the franchise, To All the Boys: Always and Forever, released in 2021.

Despite the initial movie’s runaway success, Centineo emphasized to E! News in January 2020 that “nothing changed” when the pals returned to film the next installments. “It was just nice to be able to be back on set but also just nice to be in Vancouver with Lana and with everybody else and the new additions. Like, Jordan [Fisher] and Ross Butler,” he explained. “It was special. It was spectacular.”

He added: “It was no different. It’s as if we had [filmed] the first [movie] the day before.”

Condor gushed about her dynamic with her onscreen boyfriend in April 2019. “Noah and I learned a lot from each other in terms of what it’s like to just have a really good working relationship,” she told CNBC Make It at the time. “Every single time that we would do a scene together, you’d always be like, ‘Are you good? Do you need something, or are you OK?’ He taught me that it’s very important to check in with your scene partner and make sure that the scene went the way that they wanted.”

The leading lady noted that Centineo “taught me good communication skills with other actors on set.”

When the actor went on to star in The Perfect Date, he took some of Condor’s guidance with him. “He actually said, ‘Wow, as I was shooting [the movie], I really remembered how much you conserved your energy on To All the Boys because it’s just so demanding,’” she said. “You’re [working] 14 hours a day, [you’re] in every single frame, and he was like, ‘It’s really cool and you really taught me how to conserve my energy when you’re the lead and you’re responsible for setting the tone of the day.’”

Condor reflected on the franchise’s lasting influence on her ahead of the third film’s debut. “Lara Jean has just been the biggest impact in my life,” she told Self in February 2021. “I like the world that we got to make with To All the Boys. I like a world that is romantically driven and colorful and super quirky and loves pastels.”
