Patriots fans who are mourning the departure of Tom Brady are taking it hard, while seemingly the rest of the football world is basking in it. Katie Nolan found this out the hard way on ESPN.
During Tuesday’s episode of ESPN’s “Highly Quarantined,” the livestreamed, online version of “Highly Questionable,” host Dan Le Batard and panelist Mina Kimes reveled in Nolan’s anguish after Brady’s announcement that he was leaving the Patriots.
“You might see the tears already in Mina’s eyes, she’s got tears in her eyes laughing because Katie has been crying about Tom Brady leaving New England,” Le Batard said to open the show, with Nolan looking defeated.
“We have been taunting and badgering poor Katie, a Patriots fan, about Tom Brady,” Le Batard continued. “Look at Mina, laughing already, with her dog because Katie Nolan is heartbroken because the thing that everybody said was going to happen has now happened.”
Nolan neglected to speak until over two minutes into the show as Le Batard and Kimes bantered back and forth about what Brady’s decision meant for the Patriots and the rest of the NFL. Kimes joked that the real winner of the day was Texans coach and general manager Bill O’Brien, who made a head-scratching deal that sent star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals, for not being at the center of the news cycle.
The bit ended with Kimes wearing a Kangol hat and glasses in a Bruce Arians impersonation. It was soon thereafter reported that Brady would be signing with Arians’ Buccaneers for $30 million per season.
“What did I do to you, Mina?” an expressionless Nolan asked. “What did I do to you producers of ‘Highly Quarantined’?”
