Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl invites 10-year-old girl to co-write song

Nandi Bushell, the 10-year-old UK girl who has been drum battling Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl online has accepted an invitation to co-write a song with him.

Stranger things have happened.

The 10-year-old UK girl who has been drum battling Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl online has accepted an invitation to co-write a song with the rock legend and eventually perform with the band on stage.

Nandi Bushell, who has become an Internet sensation with videos of herself on social media drumming and playing the guitar while wailing, got the chance to speak with Grohl during a video chat last week.

“I get to meet a rock star, oh my God,” Grohl beamed to Bushell, adding, “I can’t believe I’m talking to you. I feel like I’m meeting a Beatle.”

During the chat, Grohl extended an invitation to the young rocker.

“When the Foo Fighters finally come back to the UK, do you think that you would get up onstage and jam with us?” Grohl asked. “But it has to be at the end of the set, because you’re gonna steal the show. It can’t be at the beginning of the set, because if you come out first, it’s just all downhill from there.”

Then he asked, “Or we should make a song together, do you want to do that?”

A smiling Bushell quickly replied, “Yes, definitely, 100 percent.”

At one point Grohl told Bushell that he had been “nervous” to virtually meet her.

“I wasn’t nervous. You just got to do it. Go for it,” she told Grohl.

Afterwards, Bushell boasted about meeting Grohl on her Instagram page.

“Mr Grohl! It was an honour and so EPIC to meet you! I had so much fun talking to you. I really can’t wait for your battle response! I bet it’s going to be TRULY AWESOME! I really, really can’t wait to write a song with you and perform on stage with the @foofighters !” she wrote.

“Wow this is going to be the greatest rock song EVER! Even better than the one @tenaciousd [Tenacious D] wrote!” Bushell added.

Bushell, from Ipswich, England, was 5 years old when she learned how to play the drums, she had told Grohl.

“Nandi was amazed, and could not believe it was real,” John Bushell, Nandi’s father, told CNN of his daughter’s virtual meeting with Grohl. “She was star struck but played it very cool. I think Dave was a little nervous too. Nandi can’t wait to write a song with Dave. This is the part she talks about most.”
