Insider found out in a story that made people raise their eyebrows that Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has even more kids than people thought. Last November, he had twins.
If you're keeping track, these babies are not Musk's first secret children to be found. In March of this year, it was revealed in a profile in Vanity Fair that Musk had had a second child with his on-again-off-again girlfriend, the famous musician Claire "Grimes" Boucher. The reporter working on the story heard a baby crying upstairs, which is how he or she found out. All together, the billionaire is now known to have nine children.
The mother of the most recent babies, whose name has not been made public, is also a well-known person. But in a surprising turn, Insider reports that this woman, whose name is Shivon Zilis, is a highly skilled employee of Musk's who has worked at several of his businesses, including OpenAI, Tesla, and Neuralink.
Moral Landmines
In the business world, it goes without saying that it's not a good idea for executives to have romantic, sexual, or parental relationships with their subordinates. Musk seems to be breaking this rule here.
This wrongdoing is especially important because of a big Insider story from May of this year, in which legal documents were used to say that Musk had made inappropriate sexual advances toward a flight attendant working on a SpaceX private jet. After the allegations were made public, SpaceX paid the woman $250,000 as part of a severance agreement, which Insider looked at. And that's just the start of how Musk treats women that people don't like.
Musk and the other people named in Insider's article all declined to comment. He is a very powerful, wealthy, and well-known person with a hairline that can only be bought with money. He could probably date an uncountable number of people who are not his employees if he wanted to. In fact, he has been with and married several women, including Boucher.
This latest news shows a side of Musk that seems to show up often, and maybe more often as he gets older: he is a talented executive who is doing amazing things in the fields of space travel, electric cars, and other things, but he has very poor impulse control.
