Cameron Diaz quit acting five years ago and she couldn’t be more at “peace.”

During Wednesday’s “In goop Health: The Sessions” with Gwyneth Paltrow, the “Charlie’s Angels” star said Hollywood’s intensity was a major factor in her decision to step back from the spotlight.

“It’s a strange thing to say, I know a lot of people won’t understand it, I know you understand it, but it was so intense to work at that level and be that public and put yourself out there,” Diaz, 47, said. “There’s a lot of energy coming at you at all times when you’re really visible as an actor and doing press and putting yourself out there.”

When asked how she felt about walking away “from a movie career of that magnitude,” Diaz said she felt a sense of calm.

“A peace in my soul because I finally was taking care of myself,” she said.

Diaz first graced the silver screen in 1994’s “The Mask” alongside Jim Carrey. As she embraces the next chapter of her life, Diaz reflected on the grind she experienced early on in her career.

“I had been going so hard for so long, working, making films, it’s such a grind. I didn’t make any space for my personal life,” Diaz explained.

In 2015, she married Benji Madden and this January announced the birth of their baby girl, Raddix.

“And then I decided to … to stop making movies, and really focus on my personal life, my personal relationships with my family, my friends, and then Benj and I met each other, and we got married pretty much immediately,” she said.

Work-wise, Diaz released an organic wine brand called Avaline this summer.
