Naya Rivera’s mother broke down on the banks of Lake Piru Saturday, kneeling and throwing her arms wide, with her son Mychal at her side. They gazed out at the waters where the “Glee” actress went missing on Wednesday.

The mother and son later donned life vests and boarded a boat to help with the search for the body, TMZ reported. Cops continued to scour the water for Rivera, who vanished after a boating mishap on a California lake with her young son, posting footage of the murky, impenetrable waters where the star is believed to have disappeared.

“Here’s an example of the underwater visibility at a 30-foot depth in Lake Piru,” the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office wrote alongside a brief clip of the muddy depths.

The 33-year-old Rivera disappeared Wednesday in Southern California after renting a pontoon boat with her 4-year-old son, Josey. The man who rented the vessel to Rivera found the boy alone on the boat after the pair failed to return to shore.

Authorities are using a variety of tools in their search for Rivera, including sonar, dogs and divers, they said.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said it believes the actress accidentally drowned in the lake, about 56 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Investigators found Rivera’s ID and a purse. Josey, Rivera’s son with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey, was wearing a life jacket. Another life jacket was spotted on the boat, authorities said.

“We don’t know if she’s going to be found five minutes from now or five days from now, so we’re still going to be continuing this effort,” said Capt. Eric Buschow, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, CNN reported.

The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Coast Guard and Tulare County searchers in the recovery. Buschow said probers are using side-scanning sonar in water with visibility of only about a foot. A specially trained dog is also being used to alert handlers if they sense a body beneath the water, the report said.

Naya Rivera’s mom, dad and brother Mychal Rivera join the search efforts for the missing actress on Lake Piru today.
