John Mayer doesn’t need to read Jessica Simpson’s memoir: ‘I lived it’

John Mayer doesn’t care to relive his relationship with ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson, who made a number of accusations about their past in her new memoir “Open Book.”

In the tell-all, Simpson, 39 — who dated Mayer, 42, on and off following her divorce from Nick Lachey in 2006 — claims that Mayer was “obsessed” with her “sexually and emotionally,” saying that their relationship was “unhealthy and manipulative.”

“I’ve heard about it. I’ve heard some bits,” Mayer said on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” about the memoir. “But as Pee Wee Herman says in ‘Pee Wee’s Big Adventure’ before the movie of his life is about to play out at the end, he’s not watching the movie, and the reason he’s not watching the movie, he says, ‘I don’t have to watch it, Dottie, I lived it.’ And I think that’s prescient here.”

Simpson seems to have predicted he would react this way, as she recently revealed she didn’t care how Mayer would react because he shouldn’t be surprised by what she wrote.

“I don’t think he’ll be shocked,” she told The New York Times. “He knows these stories.”

Also in her memoir, Simpson reveals she turned to alcohol as a way to cope with anxiety from her romance with Mayer, and claims the “New Light” singer is to blame for her breakup from Tony Romo.

Mayer isn’t the only ex who doesn’t care to read the book.

Lachey, whom she was married to from 2002 to 2006, said of the memoir, “I have not read a single word.”

Simpson has been married to former NFL player Eric Johnson since 2014. They share three children together.
