At her anniversary dinner, a woman orders a $300 steak, which starts a debate about who should pay

What a way to raise the stakes.

When a woman went out to dinner with her boyfriend on their second anniversary, she accidentally ordered a $300 steak. This led to a heated discussion online.

Daniela, who goes by @ikingdani on TikTok, and her boyfriend were celebrating a big anniversary when he suggested she order the Wagyu sirloin, a high-end cut of meat that is often expensive. She did not mean to order an 8-ounce Wagyu steak, though, which pushed the bill up to well over $400.

The video has been watched nearly 2.2 million times, and 191,700 people have liked it.

Daniela wrote in text over the video, "My plate was $312 and his was $48."

The video then showed Daniela's boyfriend laughing as he put his credit card into the machine to pay for the meal.

She said in the video, "I thought he was going to break up with me."

Daniela later said that everything had just been a mistake. "I cried when I left the restaurant," she wrote. "He held my hand while I was crying and told me that in a few months we would laugh about it."

If the bill wasn’t shocking enough, the video has since sparked a debate over who should have paid.

“You should’ve offered to pay half. That’s a big bill,” one user admonished.

“I would have press ‘split bill’ SOOOO FAST,” said another.

The video then showed Daniela's partner jokingly shaking his head as they inserted their card to pay for the meal.

Meanwhile, others said she was not to blame and that it was the server’s fault.

“The server should’ve confirmed that’s what you meant to order given the disparity in the dishes,” defended a user.

“I’ve been a server and I would have verified in a nonchalant way, ‘I just want to confirm you want the 8oz Waygu that’s listed on page xyz,’ ” another said.

One user expressed their sympathy toward the couple saying the same thing had happened to them.

“That happened to me too,” one user quipped.

“I thought it was $50, turned out it was $50 PER OUNCE!”

To add in-salt to injury, Daniela revealed that she didn’t even enjoy the meal.

“It was the 8 slices of wagyu and some tiny leaves on the side with salt,” Daniela said.

“Trust me it wasn’t even good.”
