The Suns’ championship hopes are suddenly in peril.
Chris Paul has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols and as a result will be sidelined for an indefinite period of time, sources told The Athletic on Wednesday.
It’s unclear why the Phoenix guard was placed in the league’s COVID-19 protocols and could depend on whether Paul has been vaccinated. The 36-year-old had previously called the decision to get vaccinated a “personal” one.
Paul’s availability for the Western Conference finals is up in the air, the website reported.
The Suns were enjoying some down time following their sweep of the Nuggets as they await the winner of the Jazz-Clippers second-round series.
There is no set schedule for the conference finals. If a Game 7 is needed in the Jazz-Clippers series, which is tied 2-2, it will be played on Sunday.
Paul has yet to address the report.
