The Knicks have finally signed Luca Vildoza to four-year deal
Luca Vildoza, the Spanish league combo guard, has finally signed his deal with the Knicks, a source confirmed.
Once he clears immigration and COVID-19 testing protocols, Vildoza will likely join the club – perhaps by the weekend.
ESPN reported the deal to be four years and $13.6 million but most of it is non-guaranteed, according to a source. Sources say Vildoza had other offers and the Knicks needed to sweeten the deal.
Vildoza, 25, is from Argentina and becomes the second point guard from that country to play for the Knicks recently following Pablo Prigioni’s successful stint. Vildoza played for Baskonia this past season. According to Spanish reports, the Knicks may have to pay Baskonia $2 million as part of a buyout settlement.
“He’s tough, hard-nosed,” one NBA scout said of Vildoza. “He’s an excellent passer, shooter and was consistent in Baskonia. He has a good feel for the game.”
The Knicks will have a roster spot when Jared Harper’s 10-day contract expires this week. Harper will be conveyed a two-way slot to open up space for Vildoza. The Argentinian was averaging 10.1 points per game in the Spanish league, shooting 37.6 percent from 3-point range.
