Yankees trade Mike Tauchman to Giants for Wandy Peralta

The Yankees on Tuesday traded outfielder Mike Tauchman to the San Francisco Giants for reliever Wandy Peralta.

BALTIMORE — The Yankees traded Mike Tauchman to the Giants on Tuesday in exchange for left-hander Wandy Peralta and a player to be named later. They recalled Tyler Wade from the alternate site to take Tauchman’s spot on the roster.

Tauchman had been unable to get back to the form he showed in 2019, when he was a reliable left-handed bat and was able to play all three outfield spots well.

A calf injury ended that season and Tauchman struggled last year, when he said he aggravated a shoulder injury.

He made the team out of spring training, but with the Yankees using Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge, Clint Frazier and Brett Gardner in the outfield, there was little room for the 30-year-old Tauchman, who was out of options.

Peralta, 29, had a 5.40 ERA in 10 relief appearances with San Francisco this season. He has spent parts of six seasons in the majors with the Giants and Reds.
