Mets pitcher Jerry Blevins retires: ‘All over the place emotionally’

After 13 seasons in the big leagues, the lefty reliever Jerry Blevins announced his retirement Tuesday.

After 13 seasons in the big leagues, the lefty reliever announced his retirement Tuesday. The 37-year-old had been pitching at the Mets’ alternate site to begin this season, after re-signing on a minor league deal over the winter.

Blevins, who last pitched in the majors in 2019 with the Braves, posted a 3.38 ERA with the Mets from 2015-2018.

“I’ve been all over the place emotionally since I made the decision a few night[s] ago. Mostly happy of course,” Blevins wrote in an announcement.
