No amount of “Jeopardy!” hosting is going to solve the question bubbling up with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

Rodgers is coming off an MVP season, and has made it very clear that he wants an additional level of financial security with the Packers as he ages into the final years of his career.

The problem is that the team just spent a first-round pick on quarterback Jordan Love. Perhaps they want to see whether or not the Utah State product can play before his rookie deal expires, but it’s a dark cloud hanging over Rodgers, who has yet to receive an extension.

Former Packers receiver Jordy Nelson, who played several seasons with Rodgers and has a close relationship with the quarterback, recently questioned the Packers’ strategy this offseason on an episode of “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“I don’t know what [the Packers] doing,” Nelson said. “I can’t answer any of those questions. It’s mind-blowing sometimes, especially when he comes out and has an MVP year, and they don’t want to commit or do whatever they want to do to show appreciation or whatever it is for the next two years.

“It seems like it’d be a pretty easy and simple move that, I would say, 100%, if not 99.9% of people would agree with. So, they can’t be worried about backlash or anything.”

Rodgers wrote a heartfelt message about Nelson when the Packers opted to release before the 2018 season, saying he was “sad” after the team’s decision.

Rodgers has openly discussed the possibility of finishing his career with another team, and his former teammate Charles Woodson speculated that he would do as such earlier this week. One would think the Packers would prefer to hang onto their known quantity instead of roll the dice on Love, but the fact that he has yet to receive an extension is telling.
