FRIDAY

Virgin River

HOW/WHEN & WHERE TO WATCH: Streaming on Netflix

Season Premiere
Based on Robyn Carr’s bestselling series of romance novels, Virgin River is back for more with its second season and plenty of unanswered questions. Will Charmaine (Laura Hammersley) and Jack (Martin Henderson) get back together for the sake of the baby? And what does that mean for Mel (Alexandra Breckinridge) and her desire to live and love in this town? Now that Preacher (Colin Lawrence) knows Paige’s (Lexa Doig) true identity, what will happen to their blossoming romance? And can Doc (Tim Matheson) and Hope (Annette O’Toole) ever fully reconcile? For a small town, this place sure has a lot of (romantic) drama. —Maureen Lee Lenker

Sugar Rush Christmas

HOW/WHEN & WHERE TO WATCH: Streaming on Netflix

Season Premiere
Christmas is coming to the Netflix kitchens. To celebrate the holiday season, the streaming service is whipping up another Sugar Rush Christmas special and, you guessed it, it's the most stressful time of the year! Over six festive-themed episodes, guest judges — including Abigail Breslin, Chris Bosh, Valerie Gordon, Jordin Sparks, Adam Rippon, and Sasha Pieterse — will help decide which teams should walk away with a stocking crammed full of $10,000 worth of prize money. (We're pretty sure no stockings are actually involved.) As the bakers compete to concoct everything from edible ugly sweaters to Christmas-tree themed bakes, their holiday spirit will be pushed to the absolute limit. But hey, is it even the holidays without a kitchen meltdown or two, and cries of “Christmas is ruined!!”? —Ruth Kinane

The Spanish Princess

HOW/WHEN & WHERE TO WATCH: 8 p.m. on Starz

Series Finale
Catherine of Aragon’s story comes to a close this Sunday with the series finale of The Spanish PrincessThose who know (or have brushed up on) their history will have some inkling as to where it’s headed, but there’s still many unanswered questions including just how much Anne Boleyn will figure into the drama and where we’ll leave Catherine. “We just wanted to reach the point where you saw the figure from history and you now understand a version of the person behind the portrait,” teases co-creator Matthew Graham. History might not have left Catherine a victor, but she still deserves some semblance of closure before we say adios to Henry VIII’s first wife. —MLL
