Heaven's Gate: The Cult of Cults

Docuseries Debut
Jim Jones. David Karesh. Charles Manson. Some of the most notorious cult leaders of all-time. Right up there with them: Marshall Applewhite and Bonnie Nettles. The two created the infamous Heaven's Gate religious cult, all 39 members of which committed suicide in 1997 outside San Diego (including Applewhite; Nettles died 1985 from cancer). In death, they believed they would reach a spaceship, which would follow the Comet Hale-Bopp and ultimately lead them to salvation and Heaven. This four-part docuseries includes never-before-seen footage of the cult, as well as interviews with former members, and family and friends of some who died in the country's largest mass suicide. —Gerrad Hall

Euphoria

Kudos to HBO and the creative team behind the show for recognizing the massive demand for new Euphoria episodes, and pulling together a couple special episodes to satiate viewers until they can safely complete production on season 2. Unclear if Part 1 will provide any clear answers to what happened to Rue after her drug-induced musical number, but it’s nice to see Zendaya back in the role that just secured her place in history as the youngest ever Emmy winner for Lead Actress in a Drama. —MJ
