This was more than a rumor. Apparently, Victor Oladipo was campaigning to join other teams.

According to the Indianapolis Star, three times Oladipo told opposing teams during games he wanted to join them, in front of his Pacers teammates. It happened against the Raptors, Heat and Knicks, which only worsened a tense situation.

“Can I come play with y’all?” he was heard saying on more than one occasion.

The Knicks have been rumored to be interested in trading for the two-time All-Star, who is coming off a major knee injury that limited him to 19 regular-season games last season.

The Post reported that one potential deal could be the Mavericks’ two-first round picks in 2021 and 2023, which the Knicks own, Julius Randle and either Dennis Smith Jr. or Frank Ntilikina. Oladipo is entering the final year of his $85 million contract and is said to be looking to move on.

The 28-year-old, however, denied that on Instagram, writing: “I’m a Pacer, dawg. I’m a Pacer. I can’t control the rumors, man. All of the ones on the internet, I don’t even know where they come from. I’m just in the background, working on my knee, trying to get right for next year.”
