Another Washington Football Team quarterback suffered a gruesome leg injury.

Kyle Allen was carted off the field in the first quarter Sunday after he was leg whipped in the knee by Giants safety Jabrill Peppers, causing Allen to stumble and his ankle and foot to twist in the wrong direction. Allen was clutching his ankle and shaking his head in disbelief before waving to fans and disappearing into the stadium tunnel.

Allen, 24, suffered a dislocated ankle but only has a small fracture, according to NFL Network.

Trailing 10-0 at the time, Washington turned to Alex Smith, who broke his leg in November 2018, as Allen’s replacement. Former starter Dwayne Haskins is inactive for the game.

Smith’s leg was infected and nearly amputated, but he miraculously returned to the field and completed 9-of-17 passes off the bench earlier this year after undergoing 17 surgeries.

Peppers was blitzing on the play and cut-blocked by Antonio Gibson. Peppers lost his balance and rolled into the scrambling Allen. He was flagged for a personal foul penalty, though it did not appear there was intent on his part.

The Dallas Cowboys lost quarterback Dak Prescott for the season with a broken ankle when he was tackled by Giants safety Logan Ryan.
