John Legend sings ‘Georgia on My Mind’ as Biden takes lead over Trump

Georgia is on all our minds.

Georgia sure is on everyone’s mind — John Legend included.

The 41-year-old musician shared an emotional a cappella cover of the old Hoagy Carmichael song, “Georgia on My Mind,” made famous by Ray Charles, just as Joe Biden appeared to pull ahead in the crucial state early Friday morning.

The soulful cover had 3.2 million views as of Friday morning, with Twitter commenters thanking the singer for putting a tune to the pivotal moment.

As votes continued to be counted, Biden gained a lead over President Trump by just 917 votes Friday morning, along with more ground in other key states such as Nevada and Pennsylvania.

Poll workers continue to count legitimate mail-in ballots, which were expected to lean in Biden’s favor prior to Election Day, as neither candidate has officially reached the necessary 270 Electoral College votes needed.

Legend has been on the campaign trail along with his wife, model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen, 34, despite their recent pregnancy loss.

Ray Charles’ version of the tune is Georgia’s official state song. In recent days, it has become an unofficial anthem for nervous election-watchers, since the outcome of the state’s votes will help determine the winner of the election. Other social-media users shared the song, lyrics and their own versions.

“I love you, Georgia,” Legend cooed after the song.

Teigen later shared that her husband had been waiting hours to share the cover with his followers.
