Dr. Oz is returning to the studio — and his medical roots — for the 12th season of his syndicated show, we’re told.
Oz started shooting in a studio this week for the first time since March, when he was forced to start filming at home after a staffer tested positive for COVID-19. He had been filming at home since then, but now we’re told he’s back to working from a regular studio, in the CBS building on 57th Street. He used to shoot at ABC’s West End Avenue facility, but he switched because ABC is moving downtown.
“They created a full-time studio at home in his basement,” said a source, adding that he’ll still “be able to crash things in from home” going forward.
Most of Oz’s staff will continue to work from their homes, and there won’t be a live audience. “There are strict COVID guidelines,” an insider told Page Six.
Meanwhile, Oz’s new studio isn’t the only facelift the show is getting: We’re told that after it shifted from covering health topics to doing more crime coverage in recent years, Oz will once again prioritize medical issues, with COVID-19 being the main focus.
