Coco Gauff is going home early.
The 16-year-old American was beaten 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 by No. 31 seed Anastasija Sevastova in the first round of the U.S. Open on Monday at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Gauff, who is currently ranked No. 52 in the world, reached the third round last year before getting knocked off by Naomi Osaka. Her 13 double faults against Sevastova on Monday certainly didn’t help matters in 2020.
