Dax Shepard said he’ll need to have surgery after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident, detailing the recent incident Monday on his “Armchair Expert” podcast.

“I was passing six guys at Sonoma Raceway on a motorcycle, and I was breaking very, very hard. Hard enough that the back wheel was off the ground for a good, I guess, 100 yards, and then someone turned in — as they had the right to,” the 45-year-old actor explained.

“I was totally at blame,” he continued. “I thought I would be able to slide in between, but someone turned in and I was already under full brake and I couldn’t go anywhere.”

Shepard said he then “clipped their bumper and [he] went over the handlebars,” landing, “pretty hard.”

Though Shepard went back on the track for “two more sessions,” it was “too painful by the end.” On Monday, Shepard got checked out at the hospital, where he learned what damage had been done.

“I’ve been at the hospital for seven hours today. And the final tally was four broken ribs, the clavicle is broken in three places and I need surgery. And then I broke my hand that I broke a couple of months ago,” Shepard, who broke his hand in an ATV accident earlier this year, confirmed.

Shepard added that despite the scary ordeal, he doesn’t think he’ll “quit” riding permanently, but “might be willing to quit for the remainder of 2020.”

On Wednesday, Shepard thanked fans for their support on Instagram, also showing off his injury in a shirtless selfie.

“Thank you Armcherries for all the well wishes and concern. I’m in one piece and spirits are high 🙂 Sorry for causing concern,” he captioned the shot, which also featured wife Kristen Bell in the background.

“Lol bell in the background,” Whitney Cummings responded, to which Bell, 40, replied: “@whitneycummings just politely shaking my head at his nonsense…”

Bell and Shepard have been married since 2013 and share two daughters: Delta, 5, and Lincoln, 7.
