The 2020 VMAs will no longer be held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center — but the ceremony will still have “Blinding Lights.”

The Weeknd — whose No. 1 hit “Blinding Lights” has been one of the songs of summer — will be performing at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. Originally scheduled to take place at Barclays on Aug. 30, the event will now be staged at various outdoor locations around New York City in the interest of safety amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

Also announced as VMAs performers on Tuesday were “Rockstar” rapper Roddy Ricch, Colombian singer Maluma and Latin boy band CNCO. They join previously announced performers BTS, J Balvin and Doja Cat.

The Weeknd has six nominations at this year’s VMAs, including video of the year, best R&B video and best direction, cinematography and editing for “Blinding Lights.” The Canadian crooner is also up for artist of the year.

Meanwhile, Roddy Ricch has three nods: song of the year and best hip-hop video for “The Box,” as well as the fan-chosen Push Best New Artist. Maluma is nominated for best Latin video (“Qué Pena,” with J Balvin), while CNCO is up for best quarantine performance (on “MTV Unplugged at Home”) and choreography (“Honey Boo,” with Natti Natasha).

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande lead all contenders with nine nominations each, including video of the year for their divalicious duet, “Rain on Me.”

And they aren’t the only fierce femmes in the mix at the 2020 VMAs: The event will be hosted by “Hustlers” actress-singer Keke Palmer.
