A COVID crackdown is going down in the Hamptons following the recent charity concert headlined by the Chainsmokers. Gov. Andrew Cuomo blasted the event as “illegal” and “reckless” for its alleged lack of social distancing. And now, Ruschmeyers’ new restaurant-within-a-restaurant concept, Etiquette — which was hit with a number of minor non-COVID-related citations this summer …
A COVID crackdown is going down in the Hamptons following the recent charity concert headlined by the Chainsmokers.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo blasted the event as “illegal” and “reckless” for its alleged lack of social distancing. And now, Ruschmeyers’ new restaurant-within-a-restaurant concept, Etiquette — which was hit with a number of minor non-COVID-related citations this summer — is already shutting down.
“With nightly visits from the fire marshal, the Ruschmeyers partnership with the immersive dining experience Etiquette Montauk was a target from the beginning,” the spot said in a statement. But, “after the Chainsmokers performance in the Hamptons, the town of East Hampton has made it impossible for the Etiquette concept, equipped with bottle parades and dinner performances, to continue into August.” The space will still serve food.
75 Main owner Zach Erdem told us, “After the Chainsmokers, [the town] became a big target.” Erdem assured us, “We have been following all the rules,” and even got creative with a sign outside declaring, “No chain smoking here. We practice social distancing.”
