Heather Locklear says James Naughton not at fault for ‘gross’ moment

Heather Locklear doesn’t blame James Naughton for making her uncomfortable while filming the 1996 movie “The First Wives Club.”

This week, Locklear expressed it was “gross” when Naughton touched her breast while filming a scene and stated that the script did not direct him to do so.

“He doesn’t grab [my breast],” she had said on the podcast, “Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald.”  “He actually outlines my areola with his finger. It didn’t say that in the script.”

But Naughton refuted the claim, sharing a page from the script that directed his character to be “subtly using his finger to feel [Locklear’s character’s] breast.”

“James remembers shooting this scene as written in the script,” his spokesperson told Yahoo Entertainment. “He completely understands that Heather would have felt uncomfortable shooting this scene, as he felt uncomfortable as well.”

Now, Locklear is clarifying that she doesn’t hold the uncomfortable moment against her former co-star.

“Oh no, I didn’t mean James Naughton did anything wrong,” she wrote on Instagram on Thursday with a screenshot of our report. “The script called for him to touch my breast. I was surprised that he circled my areola. We had not discussed the scene prior to filming.”

She added, “To be clear, I was never upset with James, just surprised. Love you James #pagesix.”

Locklear had expressed that she had her credit removed from the film because of how the scene played out.

“He actually touched more … Gross,” she had said. “So I said, ‘Can you just take my name off the credits since now I don’t have any lines?’ So it was creditless.”

Locklear’s rep pointed us to her statement on social media but did not comment further.

Naughton’s rep told Page Six, “From James: ‘Love you back, Heather.’”
