A #MeToo activist who says she was targeted by disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein told the a court Friday she was “misquoted” in a newspaper article that’s at the center of Johnny Depp’s explosive libel trial.

Actress Katherine Kendall — who was quoted in an article in The Sun calling Depp “wife beater” in 2018 — told London’s High Court that her “words were taken out of context” and that she was “misquoted” in the story, according to Sky News.

In a witness statement, Kendall said she never accused the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star of “hurting” ex-wife Amber Heard and that she has “no first-hand knowledge” that he was ever violent.

Instead, Kendall said she actually texted a reporter for the paper at the time that, “Amber had hit him, which is why as you know I don’t condone ‘any’ violence.”

Kendall — who says she was harassed and chased around her apartment by Weinstein in 1993 — added that she felt the paper used the #MeToo movement for its own “purposes.”

The actress, who is best known for her role in the 1996 movie “Swingers,” also told the court she considers herself a “survivor of abuse.”

After The Sun article ran, Kendall sent an angry text to The Sun’s executive editor Dan Wootton, according to the Evening Standard.

“I never meant to be in an article that called Johnny Depp a ‘wife beater,’” the actress wrote. “I told you that I didn’t know that to be true at all!”

Friday marked the ninth day of Depp’s  libel trial against the The Sun. He claims he’s not a “wife beater,”  has never hurt Heard and that she’s a “sociopath” who has made up tales of abuse.
