Leah Remini is on the warpath, accusing Tom Cruise of morphing into controversial Scientology leader David Miscavige.
“I think it’s time for people to start waking up to the real facts here. Tom has for years manipulated his image to be the good guy,” the 50-year-old actress told Us Weekly in a statement on Monday.
“Although I believe there was a time when Tom was a decent and kindhearted person, he has morphed himself into David Miscavige and is completely dedicated to Scientology’s mission to ‘clear’ planet Earth — which means making 80 percent of the world’s population into Scientologists.”
Remini, was raised as a scientologist from age 9 after her mother joined the organization. She left after questioning the managing style of Miscavige.
Two years later she published a memoir “Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology.” The “King of Queens” star also had a documentary series on A&E, entitled “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath,” which delved into former scientologists experiences since leaving the group. She currently co-hosts a podcast with Mike Rinder entitled “Scientology: Fair Game.”
This hasn’t been Remini’s first jab against the “Top Gun” star. Recently, she praised actress Thandie Newton after she spoke out about being “scared” of Cruise while filming “Mission: Impossible 2.”
“That takes huge balls to do what she did, and if more people speak out in that way, and be brave enough to do so, I think we might get somewhere,” Remini told Daily Beast.
Cruise’s reps didn’t respond to requests for comment.
