Joan f–king Baez!

Lana Del Rey has shared what she says is folk legend Joan Baez’s portrait of her, along with Baez’s self-portrait and a painting she did of her mother.

Del Rey, 35, and Baez, 79, have some degree of history together. The younger singer brought out Baez for a duet on the latter’s signature tune, “Diamonds and Rust,” at a Berkeley, Calif. show in October 2019. They also performed Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.” (Dylan and Baez famously dated and — perhaps more famously — broke up and remained playfully acrimonious exes.)

It’s anyone’s guess as to where or how Del Rey gained access to Baez’s portraiture catalog. The only clue to her location recently has been an Instagram post captioned “Tulsa Jesus Freak: White Hot Forever,” though fans on a Del Rey message board have seized on the phrase as a possible song title for her forthcoming record rather than a hint at an Oklahoma-based archive of 1960s songwriter art.
