Johnny Depp‘s longtime friend and neighbor recalled coming home and seeing wine running down the hallway wall outside of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star’s penthouse, according to a report.

A witness statement of Depp’s friend of 40 years, Isaac Baruch, was read out in London’s High Court Friday at the “Edward Scissorhands” actor’s libel trial against the Sun for allegedly unfairly calling him a “wife beater” in a 2018 story based on Heard’s accusations.

Baruch, who lived rent free in one of Depp’s penthouses at the time, said he was returning home on the evening of May 21, 2016 — the same day that Heard and Depp allegedly got into a violent fight — when he saw broken glass and wine in the hallway outside of Depp’s home, according to a report by the Mirror.

“Immediately exiting the elevator and at the beginning of the hallway that leads to the 5 penthouses on this floor that Mr Depp owned, we noticed that there was broken glass on the floor from a broken sconce that hung on the wall,” according to Baruch’s statement, which was read out in the courtroom.

“We then proceeded to round the corner of the hallway and stopped in front of Penthouse 1, because there was a large puddle of spilt wine along with splashed wine running down the wall directly in front of the door,” the statement continued.

“I said to my friend something like: ‘It looks like somebody got hammered, probably these guys had a party’, meaning Ms Heard ‘s friends Raquel Pennington and her fiancé Josh Drew, who lived in Penthouse 1,” Baruch said in the statement.

Then Baruch said when he asked Drew what happened, as he came out of the apartment, “he very seriously replied with words to the effect of, ‘we kind of had a rough day’.”

Baruch, testified Friday that photos of Heard’s bruised face were “phoney baloney.”
