Johnny Depp had to be restrained by a nurse when “all hell broke loose” during a fight with his ex-wife Amber Heard, a court heard Friday.
Private nurse Debbie Lloyd told London’s High Court that she was at the couple’s L.A. penthouse during a violent blowout in March 2015 over whether Depp was cheating on Heard with ex-girlfriend, Rochelle Hathaway, according to The Sun.
After the fight, Lloyd sent a message to Depp’s security guard, Travis McGivern, saying she had to step in to keep the pair from hurting one another, according to the paper.
“Bad night last night. they got into it and it got violent again. I had to separate them,” she wrote. “All hell had broken loose.”
Her text message was dated March 23, 2015 — the day Depp is accused of turning “extremely violent” during a fight in which Heard discovered text messages from Hathaway and accused him of cheating. It was unclear why the nurse had been summoned to the couple’s home.
Over the course of the libel trial — in which Depp is suing The Sun newspaper for calling him a “wife beater” in a 2018 article — the court heard that Depp, “grabbed Amber Heard by the hair and then hit her in the head” during the fight. He’s also accused of smashing up the penthouse and shoving Heard’s sister, Whitney, out of the way.
But on Friday, McGivern claimed Heard had actually been the one who “punched” Depp — not the other way around— and that she had also chucked a can of Red Bull at him.
He added that Depp was “angry” but insisted there was, “only one side that used physical violence,” he told the court.
Depp has previously denied doing anything violent doing the argument, saying he “possibly tried to protect myself, if that’s considered violent.”
