Brad Pitt knows he’s made a few flops.
The “Moneyball” actor surprised Darnell Rudolph, a waste management worker in New Orleans via video for a special “United We Sing: A Grammy Tribute to the Unsung Heroes” and the two chatted about how Rudolph is coping during the pandemic.
Rudolph said that he and his family have been playing, “a lot of cards, a lot of Monopoly and a lot of TV.”
When a crew member piped in and added, “And a lot of Brad Pitt movies,” the Oscar winner, 56, quipped: “I apologize for a few of ‘em.”
The essential worker also complimented Pitt on “the work you’ve done after Katrina,” referencing the dozens of eco-friendly homes he helped build in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
“It’s so appreciated,” Pitt responded. “I got such a love for that city and we sure appreciated what you’re doing.”
The two-hour special, which aired on Sunday night, followed Harry Connick Jr., his daughter Georgia and a camera crew as they went on a road trip from New York City to Connick’s hometown of New Orleans. Their first stop was the Queens Medical Center where the Grammy-winner met his sister Dr. Suzanne Jamison who works there.
The two stood apart while wearing masks and gloves.
“This is the strangest meeting I’ve ever had with you in my life,” the singer told his sister. “Not hugging her is killing me.”
Also appearing on the special was Sandra Bullock who talked to Joy Palmer, a Regional Transit Authority manager whose husband died of Covid.
“I just wanted to take this time to thank you for your service and your contributions to keep everyone safe,” Bullock told her.
The road trip also took the Grammy Award winner to New Jersey, Virginia, Mississippi and Tennessee. Other celebs appearing included New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Oprah Winfrey, Renee Zellweeger, Queen Latifah and Tim McGraw.
