Criss Angel has opened up about his son’s cancer battle amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The illusionist, 52, said in an emotional interview that his faith is helping him cope with his 6-year-old Johnny Crisstopher’s disease, and is confident he will go into remission again.
“I just know that everything is going to be okay and that there’s a greater purpose, and I’m here to do that purpose and that greater work,” he told DailyMailTV.
“And we are very positive because we have faith and with faith, there’s hope,” he continued, “and without it, it’s potentially devastating to not have hope.”
Angel said the COVID-19 pandemic has encouraged him to support other cancer victims, as they’re at further risk, and has made him “appreciate the moment you are in, even if it is during a crisis.”
“These kids that get affected, it has a profound effect on them. They look at things differently,” he said. “They don’t take things for granted. They’re in the moment and the moment is what we all have to be in and have to reflect on because we don’t know if we’re going to have the next moment.
“I cannot be any more proud of a 6-year-old boy who sees the world that way,” he added.
The magician announced in December 2019 that his son’s cancer had returned.
Johnny was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was 2 years old and had been in treatment until this fall.
