Southern Charm” star Kathryn Dennis believes her spat with activist Mika Gadsden has “been blown out of context.”

The reality star wrote on Instagram Sunday night that she is “freakin (sic) heartbroken and so depressed because the way I’m being portrayed is totally not true!!!”

Earlier this month the 28-year-old got into a heated exchange with Gadsden over a planned “Trump Boat Parade” to be thrown by local businesses in Charleston, North Carolina.

Dennis’ argument over whether supporting the current President made her racist rapidly degenerated into a racially insensitive rant. According to Buzzfeed, Dennis sent Gadsden 28 messages calling her a “psycho” and one that had a monkey emoji.

“I use that emoji all the time because it looks silly and awkward and that’s my baseline,” Dennis wrote. “The account was anonymous. I didn’t even know who I was messaging???? And now I’ve been labeled all this crazy stuff and it’s just not true. And it’s not fair.”

There have already been repercussions for Dennis. Last week she was abruptly dropped as brand ambassador for a South Carolina-based clothing store.

“As a minority-owned business, Gwynn’s and our employees are dedicated to serving all members of our community. Indisputably Kathryn Dennis’ comments and statements to Tamika Gadsen [sic] do not reflect the values of the Gwynn’s brand. Her previous affiliation as a brand ambassador was periodic and on a contract basis. We stand in unity with people of color and with causes that fight to end injustices,” Gwynn’s of Mount Pleasant wrote on Instagram last Wednesday.

Dennis promised that she will be “making a full statement tomorrow” but felt compelled to write “because I cannot stand my character being annihilated.”

“Please just be patient and know this s–t is just not true,” she concluded.
