There’s some good news for the horses of the Hamptons.
We’re told that after Page Six ran a story about so-called school horses who could head to the slaughterhouse, there’s been “a flood of love and support from all across the country” for the animals.
Usually, city folk head to the Hamptons and lease horses there for the prestigious horse show season, culminating in the Hampton Classic. Now, owners of the animals can’t afford to feed them because their usual customers are quarantined — and many of the owners will have to sell the horses for meat, horse pros said.
But we’re told that after our story, a stable in Virginia offered to house and feed up to 20 horses, and a California stable said it would take another 10.
We’re told one man even showed up unannounced at the barn of Deborah Flynn — who’s leading the effort to save the area’s horses — with about $1,000 worth of feed, while a couple shoved $200 in an envelope under the door of another Long Island stable, Skye Acres, to help. But we’re told Flynn is still many thousands short of her fund-raising goal.
