The Giants have a new quarterback.

Daniel Jones’ starting job is safe, but there is a new favorite for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart — last occupied somewhat uncomfortably by two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning before retirement.

Colt McCoy, 33, agreed to terms Thursday on a one-year contract, giving the Giants a backup with 39 games played and 28 starts over his 10-year career with the Browns, 49ers and Redskins. He made three starts over the last two seasons in the NFC East.

The base value of McCoy’s deal is $2.25 million, with $1.5 million guaranteed and a max value of $3 million, a source told The Post.

McCoy, a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist while at Texas, will be challenged by fellow veteran Alex Tanney, who has played in two games during his eight-year career with eight teams.

Tanney, 32, first joined the Giants in 2018 and was Manning’s backup that season. He was the No. 3 quarterback last season, but played a significant behind-the-scenes preparation role in Jones’ development.

The Giants exercised a $1 million contractual option on Tanney earlier this month. But Tanney’s contract is not guaranteed — McCoy’s guarantees mean greater security — so he could be cut with no dead money.

However, the NFL’s new collective bargaining agreement allows teams more flexibility to carry three quarterbacks by getting rid of the restrictions preventing veterans from holding a spot on the practice squad.

The Giants previously showed interest in Matt Moore, a 13-year veteran who spent last season with the Chiefs and filled in for two games when Patrick Mahomes was injured.

The Giants hired Craig Fitzgerald from the University of Tennessee to be their strength and conditioning coach, as he confirmed on his Twitter account. He previously directed the program for four seasons with the Texans.
