The Jets addressed their offensive line over the first two days of free agency and now they have made a move in their secondary.

The Jets and slot cornerback Brian Poole have agreed on a one-year, $5 million contract, according to a source.

Poole, 27, started 10 games for the Jets last season and appeared in 14 after joining the team in free agency from the Falcons. He was the team’s primary slot cornerback. He had one interception that he returned for a touchdown and had five passes defensed.

Poole played 68 percent of the defensive snaps (753) for the Jets last year.

This is the first move in free agency that Joe Douglas has made that was not an offensive lineman. He signed tackle George Fant and center Connor McGovern and re-signed guard Alex Lewis during the first two days of the negotiating window.

Now, he has brought back a piece of a secondary that had some issues at cornerback last season for defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Poole was not an issue, though. While the Jets had struggles with injuries and ineffectiveness on the outside, Poole was a solid player for them inside. He was a solid tackler and could neutralize opposing slot receivers.

The Jets still need to shore up the cornerback position on the outside, but re-signing Poole was a strong first step at the position.
