A 'surgeon' tries hard to get a live snake out of a woman's ear

Thought it was bad to have a snake in your boot? One in your ear is much better than that old saying from the 1800s.

A shocking video shows what is said to be the moment when a "surgeon" tried to remove a live snake from a woman's ear canal. People aren't sure if the squirm-inducing video of the herpetological surgery has been real or not after more than 125,000 people have watched it.

The strange Facebook clip was posted on September 1 by an India-based social media star named Chandan Singh to his 20,126 followers with the caption "The snake is in the ear." The Economic Times, a local newspaper, said that it is unclear where, when, or how this bad thing happened.

In the nearly four-minute video, an alleged doctor is seen desperately trying to pull a black and yellow snake out of the ear of a female patient.

It's yet unclear when, where or how the alleged infiltration transpired.

Even though he has a Swiss Army knife full of tools, from forceps to Q-tips, he can't get the reptile out of its strange spot.

The now-famous video clip ends without saying if the surgery was successful or not, leaving people shocked and horrified.

The doctor was seen allegedly employing every instrument from forceps to syringes but to no avail.

"He looks like a fake doctor," said one Facebook commenter who didn't believe him. "That's why he has so many tricks up his sleeve."

"Instead of a doctor, a snake charmer would have taken the snake out," said someone else in a joke.

Some viewers, though, thought the video was fake. One said it was "100% false," and another wondered how the rest of its body could fit in her ear canal. One skeptic thought it was strange that the snake came out head first, because that would mean it crawled into her ear and turned around in such a small space.

Even if the video is real, this wouldn't be the first time a bug has moved into someone's ear canal without their permission. In January, a man from New Zealand went through every insect-worst phobe's nightmare when a cockroach got into his ear and stayed there for three days. At the same time, a crab did the same thing to a tourist snorkeling in Puerto Rico.
