Hillary Clinton posts a picture of herself dancing in support of Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin
Finland's PM Leaked party videos have led to calls for Sanna Marin to take a drug test
Hillary Clinton is showing her support for Sanna Marin, the party-loving prime minister of Finland, by talking about her own scandal from when she was in office and telling her to 'keep dancing' through the backlash.
Marin, who is 36 years old, was linked to a picture from 10 years ago, when she made headlines for tearing up the dance floor and drinking a beer while she was representing the US.
“As Ann Richards said, ‘Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels,'” wrote Clinton, 74, citing a now-famous quote from the late former governor of Texas.
“Here’s me in Cartagena while I was there for a meeting as Secretary of State,” wrote Clinton of the snap of her letting off steam in Colombia at the end of the VI Summit of the Americas in 2012.
“Keep dancing, @marinsanna,” tweeted the supportive former first lady.
Her message quickly racked up more than 150,000 likes, including from the Finnish leader herself.
With a heart emoji, Marin told @HillaryClinton, "Thank you."
The Finnish leader, who is only 36 years old, is one of the youngest heads of state in the world. She is facing more and more pressure after someone posted videos of her dancing wildly. Critics asked if she was on drugs.
Other leaks showed the married mom dancing with an unknown man and hosting influencers without tops at her official summer home.
Last week, she said she was sorry through tears and insisted, "I am also a person."
The prime minister also said that she took a drug test to show that she wasn't high. The test turned out to be wrong.
Clinton was also criticized after she was seen dancing and drinking beer at a party with about 12 friends at Cafe Havana in Cartagena.
Still, it was just one of many scandals she got through. At the time, The Post said she was "having a hell of a good time."
Andrea Peyser, a columnist for the Post, thought it was proof that Clinton was ready to start her doomed campaign for the White House.
Even though Marin was grateful for the help, not everyone in the European country felt the same way.
Some Finns told Clinton to stay out of their politics and "take care of US domestic policy" instead.
Another critic wrote, "Well, Hillary and Marin, is this the right time to dance and have a party? I don't believe that. Everything is falling apart. Or is that why you're having a party?"
