A Democrat Florida politician wants the winner of the Mega Millions to 'make it rain' for his campaign

A Florida politician running for Congress has used Twitter to ask the unknown Illinois winner of Friday's $1.28 billion Mega Millions jackpot for a big donation.

“Which one of my Illinois supporters hit that Mega Millions Jackpot?” said Democrat Allen Ellison in his Hail Mary tweet Saturday. “Don’t hold back now. Make it rain .. I meant make a donation today.”

Democrat Allen Ellison solicited the anonymous winner for a donation on Twitter.

The Illinois lottery website says that the winning ticket was bought at the Speedy Café Speedway gas station in Des Plaines. The winner got the third-largest prize in U.S. history.

Ellison is a big underdog in the race to replace US Rep. Ted Deutch, a Democrat from Broward-Palm Beach county who isn't running for re-election in the 23rd congressional district of Florida.
