US energy companies made fun of Biden's tweet about gas prices, which they think was written by a White House 'intern'

The U.S. Oil & Gas Association took a shot at President Biden after he tweeted on Saturday that 'companies running gas stations' should just 'bring down the price you are charging at the pump.' They told him to 'please make sure the WH intern who posted this tweet signs up for Econ 101 for the fall semester.'

“Working on it Mr. President. In the meantime – have a Happy 4th and please make sure the WH intern who posted this tweet registers for Econ 101 for the fall semester…,” the tweeted.

On Sunday, Biden tweeted that “companies running gas stations” should take note that “this is a time of war and global peril.”

“My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril,” Biden tweeted on Saturday. “Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now.”

The average price of gas across the country is now $4.812, which is up 5 cents from a month ago. Biden's tweet comes at the same time. Prices are much higher in some states, though.

The average price of a gallon of gas in California is $6.244, while in Illinois it's $5.325.

Biden has tried to put the blame for the rise in gas prices on Russian President Vladimir Putin by calling it "Putin's Price Hike." This is a term that the White House has used many times, even though Biden promised during his campaign to always take responsibility and not blame others.

Biden's call for action comes after the White House tried and failed to get lawmakers to agree to a 90-day gas tax holiday. Even Democratic lawmakers thought the idea was crazy.

During the presidential campaign, Biden vowed to sacrifice the energy boom, low prices, and even jobs for the sake of his green agenda.

Tim Alberta, who was in charge of the Democratic debate in December 2019, asked: "Three American presidents in a row have seen the economy grow very quickly because of a boom in oil and natural gas production. If you were president, would you be willing to give up some of that growth, even if it meant that thousands or even hundreds of thousands of blue-collar workers might lose their jobs, so that we could move to a greener economy?

The former vice president said, "The answer is yes."

In his first few hours in office, Biden cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have sent about 870,000 barrels of oil per day from Canada to refineries in Texas. He also "paused" oil and gas leases on federal lands. Recently, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott warned about a rule that could be made by the Environmental Protection Agency, but if it were made, it would raise gas prices even more.

Biden has gone back and forth between accepting high gas prices as the price of a "incredible transition" to a "green" economy and blaming Vladimir Putin, energy producers, and now gas station owners, who only make a few cents per gallon of gas they sell.
