We can all recall where we were when the Berlin Wall fell. While it may have seemed that communist control would last forever, when the people decided enough was enough, the wall came tumbling down. Exactly like that.
Thus, after two years of Covid authoritarianism, the greatest truck convoy in history has crashed through the Berlin Wall of tyranny in Canada. I've seen as the Canada I once admired as a safe haven for antiwar Americans in the 1960s devolved into one of the world's most restrictive regimes. I was perplexed as to how a free-spirited people could allow themselves to be mistreated by these mini-Stalins without protest.
But then Canada stepped up and demonstrated to the rest of the world that if the people want it, freedom can win over tyranny. As I have said, no army can put a stop to a concept whose time has come.
Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, has been bragging about his power to frighten the populace in the name of battling a virus. He was so sure of his almost limitless power that he believed he could mock any Canadian who had opposing ideas. In a recent interview, the prime minister called unvaccinated Canadians "extremists," "misogynists," and "racists."
He felt he could continue mocking people until Canadian trucks defied his tyranny and launched their historic convoy to Ottawa. He said firmly that the truckers and their sympathizers were a "small fringe group" with "unacceptable values." Love of liberty, according to Trudeau, is a "unacceptable point of view."
Less than a week later, as tens of thousands of trucks poured into the capital, escorted by millions of fans, Canada's "brave" prime minister had departed the city and walked off to an unknown location.
"It would seem that the so-called 'fringe minority' is really the government," Elon Musk tweeted.
The Canadian mainstream media is clearly as subservient to the administration as ours is. They avoided the Freedom Convoy for as long as they could. There was hardly no coverage. When it became hard to ignore, they started to criticize and ridicule instead of honestly reporting it. It was nasty and almost funny to hear a "reporter" from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation claim that Putin and the Russians orchestrated the Canadian Freedom Convoy!
Hundreds of thousands of trucks have arrived in Ottawa. They want the abolition of covid dictatorship. They have the support of millions of Canadians, who braved the Canadian snow at night to cheer on the truckers.
This protest is crucial because it is not restricted to Canada. The trucks have received international support, and a similar caravan from California to Washington, DC is being organized. Truckers have more clout than the powers-that-be would like to accept in a country where food store shelves are increasingly barren.
If I were the prime minister of totalitarian Australia or New Zealand – or much of Europe – I would be scared right now. Just as the Covid dictatorship fell throughout the world in an apparently coordinated method, it's just a matter of time until the shockwaves are felt far and wide now that the tyrants' Berlin Wall has been shattered.
We owe Canadian truck drivers a duty of gratitude. Let us all do whatever we can to keep the freedom movement going!
